that last session at least keeps us in the game but need a good start tomorrow as really cant afford to have too much ground to make up, especially with hameed having been off the field all day

i didn't see the whole play today as i was flitting in and out of a couple of other things, do we know whats wrong with hameed ?

Apparently the first time Rashid has bowled two consecutive maidens in a Test.

not been around that long i suppose but thats still a telling stat

he has looked alot more relaxed and alot more confident the last couple of games tho

hope he can continue to trust his stock ball more and not feel the need to mix in just so many variations

Rich rashid only bowled 2 googlies and 1 of them got a wicket because Rahane didn't pick it.
didn't see much variation from him this test or series, so he learning quite quickly.
still crazy he didn't play much last summer.
it was clear Rashid needed overs under his belt before Winter.
he was bowling well in the sri lanka series odi and they should have taken the punt to play him against pakistan.
if he did england would have won in Bangladesh and could have even sneaked a win or two against india in this series and they might have picked a better squad as well.
no need for batty, Ansari etc if they got faith in Rashid and might have picked another batsman instead.

The effect that Saqlain has had on Rashid has been tremendous.

which is damned shame, because it was looking promising earlier. India seem to be relying heavily on Pujara, Kohli and Ashwin with the bat, but fortunately for them, all seem to be scoring heavily and reliably

Looks like the batters are the ones who have underperformed. The bowlers have got England back into it. Not bad to get through the India top order without giving up a ton.

when 5 of your top 7 get out to what could be politely described as "unforced errors" it certainly doesn't help

India really threw it away today, should have put the game out of Eng's reach really. The Pujara shot was a nightmare but the run-out to go with it was a killer.

Need the lower order to get their heads down and bat seriously - ideally we want to bat till after lunch tomorrow - pitch looks like it should still be good for batting tomorrow so Ind will need a cushion going into the second innings

Yeah no idea what india were doing for 30 mins.
one bad 30 mins caused so much damage that england edged the day in the end especially considering India dominated rest of the day.
lucky for india they still got 4 wickets in the bank with Yadav capable batsman with Shami and yadav being a decent 10 and 11.
