I can't remember Alan Knott or Bob Taylor ever dropping a catch. It seems to be the norm to shell a couple each innings nowadays.

reckon most of the current lot are not that great with the catching, you struggling to name more than 5 people in the cricketing world that are good catches only really Stokes and Jordan stand out.
reckon these days most work on the ground fielding and not catching.
Think Bayliss was surprised last year how poor the technique for catching was in the current set up and reckon what he picked up applies to most teams.

In first innings of all 3 tests our team has scored over 400 which is very good consistency. Obviously 2nd innings scores will be lesser.

because they don't like his attitude and not sure Panesar in the right state of mind to play but really ECB never wanted to pick him again after 2013 so understandably panasar went off the boil when it comes to cricket.

Cook/Flower were not the greatest pair to handle fragile or people with mental problems.

outside Monty, suspect leach, Rayner or even maybe Kerrigan were the best specialist spinners but after that cupboard bare.
batty was picked more on hope than believe, think they just assumed because Udal worked maybe Batty would work and he would be the next swann.
although Batty older than Swann when he made his debut 2nd time around.

plus don't count out the surrey connection, was so annoying hearing Surrey fans saying Batty the best spinner he will outbowl Ali and Rashid so easy and that india won't be able to handle etc.
Remember telling Shanky 6 weeks ago not to believe the hype about batty, he never looked special in County cricket and it says something when only really Surrey fans were pushing for his inclusion.
