230-9 with my man Mishra taking 7 wickets.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

being positive for a change

this has been a very good partnership by cook and jennings. i know the wicket is pretty flat but losing 1 or 2 early wickets could have caused a bit of panic to set in.

Actually, no I've not been critical of Flower's picks especially. Dawson hasn't much of a fc record to speak of, he was chosen for limited overs cricket. Once there, he didn't prove himself and was dropped, prematurely, I think. But it is a huge mission creep to get him into the Test side, not based on the evidence of his career, but some training sessions with Flower. If that works, great. If it doesn't, then it will be remarked upon.

He's not the worst England spinner I've seen (Blackwell), he looks what he is. Given his lack of pedigree, he's bound to be given a little less slack than someone who more deserves to be there.

But I take the points of others on here on board, and accept I've given him less slack than he merited.

Though, my main criticism was for how he was used.

Another failed referral from India. Kohli needs to take a course on how to use them.

he seems easily swayed by the bowlers and the keeper doesn't appear to have much of a say in the decision

Cook out to a schoolboy error. Surely he must have know that man was there.

Kohli looks like he doesn't know what to do so he looks to others in the hope that they do.

Cricinfo saying that equals the most dismissals to one bowler in a series. I'd guess Athers to McG or Curtly is up there. Or Gooch to Alderman.

Good point by Athers about Jennings looking like Chris Broad. It's obvious once you think of it.

Well done to KJ. A ton and a fifty.
