At Coolidge yesterday, the Leewards crushed an outclassed Kent by 105 runs. Opener Kieran Powell hit 106 to lead the Leewards to an imposing 275-9, and he received support from allrounder Rahkeem Cornwall, who hit a quickfire 43. Medium-pacer Matt Coles took 4-52. Pacer Alzarri Joseph then captured 3-62, and there were two wickets each for spinners Akeal Hosein and Jason Campbell, as the Leewards dismissed Kent for a paltry 170. Alex Blake topscored for Kent with 44.
At the bottom-of-the-table clash at North Sound, the Windwards easily beat the West Indies Under-19s by five wickets. Medium pacer Kyle Mayers took 4-38 to restrict the Under-19s to 207-9, Shane Brathwaite and Matthew Patrick scoring 40s. Wicketkeeper Sunil Ambris then hit 67 not out, and opener Johnson Charles 41, to take the Windwards to victory with almost 10 overs to spare. Mykile Lewis took two wickets for the Under-19s.
