There was a time when we used to knock the blade of the bat, then there came a time where the edges also were getting knocked.

Sweet spots definition has changed as well. Before when we bought season bat there was nothing to worry where sweet spot was. When i went to buy my second season bat, i had to check which place of the blade was the sweet spot. Upper middle, lower middle, middle.

Linseed oil :laugh A day will come when the grains of the bat will be replaced with linseed grains. And special techonology, in sense that every time the ball hits grains the linseed oil will come out and bat will get linseed oiled automatically than manually and keeping it idle for 2 days.

For the first time in ODI history, two bowlers took 6-wicket haul in the same ODI: Paul Stirling 6/55 and Rashid Khan 6/43.

not really sure i understand whats being said here

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/con ... 87470.html

is he really suggesting that we can have a mix of 4 and 5 day tests depending on the conditions and where the match is being played ?

who would be responsible for deciding whether its a 4 or 5 day game and what crieteria would be used ?

how do you keep stats and results meaningful if some teams are playing 5 day matches and some 4 day ?

if we do go to 4 day tests then there would have to be some set of corresponding changes and/or guidance on making sure we get results and dont just end up with alot more draws. do they propose allowing for or condoning mutual declarations like we see in the county championship to try and set up interesting final days ?

atm to me this sounds like something thats been said without any consideration of how it would work

if Pakistan ever get to host test cricket again, they'll need 6 day tests. It was always ludicrous that play always had to end early 10 minutes after insisting that players take a compulsory drinks break, with absolutely no option of catching up by starting early because the dew didn't dry off until almost lunchtime.

of course a 6 day test would also provide extra possibilities for a bit of match fixing/spot fixing/illegal betting (delete as apppropriate), so everyone's a winner!

Nope none of the fixture have to be fixed.
Essentially a shorter version of the 2007 World Cup.
Quite funny that 2007 World Cup was the perfect World Cup for ICC ticked all boxes but it was a massive failure because of two games and the length.
Suspect the tournament would be so different if India and Pakistan didn't go out.

maybe ECB are so keen on 4 day test considering if india vs england was 4 day affairs the score would have been 1-0.

Lol seems like Anderson thinks England vs West indies will sell out in this country.
if England vs pakistan can't sell out what makes him think the WI series would.
Test cricket not looking pretty in England when you remove the london games either.

Went to renew my Yorkshire membership yesterday and sales for the West Indies test match at Headingley are good, Day 2 expected to sell out soon with strong sales for Day 1 & 3.
