Stargate works in both directions for that theme

it was originally a movie, then a TV series then they made 2 more movies after the TV series was cancelled

There was a series in the eighties with David Soul as Rick.

That makes me think that it wasn't overly succesful. With some luck, it didn't make it to Aus - although I was working lots of hours and most nights then.

Was it set in Casablanca, or a whitish suburb of LA?

It's a prequel, set before Ilsa turns up. All the Cafe Americain characters are in it.

Such an iconic movie, the physical appearance of the characters would be ingrained in most. That itself would doom the thing before starting, imo.

Yes, I haven't seen it, though I'd quite like to now. I bet it feels more dated than the film. The tv series wasn't successful.

The Third Man was a legendary film and a popular series, so maybe it can work, but again, not seen it.

I did think about the A-Team after it was confirmed that AC had Billy Liar, but the film wasn't so great.

given the amount of so-called mainstream crap i watch as well, that it never interested me at all isn't in its favour

Never saw the A team film.

Saw plenty of the original series back in its day.

The cast of the A team did their best to make it watchable. It was pretty lighthearted and for while seemed a good interpretation, but by the end the action scenes were so unbelievably flamboyantly overcooked, it was pretty much a big fail.
