Just noticed Scotland have 2 one day games against SL in late May (both are just warm up games without ODI status though) , an intercontinental cup (3 day) and 2 WCL (one day) games against Namibia in early June followed by a 2 match ODI series against Zimbabwe just after that. I have no idea so does anyone else know what the arrangement usually is for associate players in county cricket, in this case Wheal?

And I've just watched some highglights and noticed Ervine bowling an off spinner!? Haven't had a chance to listen to much commentary at all yet this season, is this regular now or just a quick experiment he had today? I assume the latter.

Ervine bowled normally on day 1, I thought he was at a decent pace too.

I'm guessing today was similar to Carbs and Adams bowing and that the game was gone and he was saving Abbott/Berg/Wheal from any more bowling

Country has 1st call. It's happened at Durham with McLeod,Poynter,McCarthy etc. No doubt we'll again be affected.

As I said, he was turning it more than Dawson was. Not saying much at all, because Dawson didn't turn it full stop, but still...

But I wouldn't call it a quick experiment. Or at least, not a one or two over thing. It's largely how he bowled all his overs yesterday, which must have amounted to about 8 overs in total; most of which were earlier in the day, before the new ball was taken.

Top order looks a bit flimsy without Rossouw, but we still bat deep.

Probably the worst day for batting today looking at the forecast.

Carberry out already, Coad again!

Bad light, 258/3.

I'll take that for stumps, thanks.

Short delay, back out again.

Be nice to get to stumps three down.

Not quite, still 281/4 represents a pretty good day, as our early season form continues.

Solid enough day, especially after Yorkshire bizarrely decided to bowl first.

But important that we push on beyond 400 from here. Yorkshire are very capable of making 500+ with this team on this wicket, so we want to avoid heading into Monday facing a huge first innings deficit.

Need to make sure we get to 400 inside the 110 overs too really (5 an over for 24 overs)

I'm heading down tomorrow for day 3, hopefully to watch them follow-on

2 runs in 5 overs, guess players aren't as bothered about bonus points

Yeah, going hard for bonus points is rarely something I advocate. So I have little issue with this slow start. That said, I do think we should still be getting 50 runs in 15 overs from here. That's only slightly above 3 per over. We shouldn't even need to take risks to make that.
