Is this good or bad for England?

i think its good as it means we just have to win one of the two games which would take us to 4 points and then the team we have beaten cant get 4 points so net run rate wont come into it

the only negative would be that its now not possible to qualify on just 2 points via net run rate should whoever won today win all their games and the other team lose to bangladesh but beat us

Weather forecast for the week is looking pretty dire, for all three venues. This may well not be the only washout. Even if not, there is going to be a lot of cloud around, and the possibility of swinging conditions. You'd think that should benefit England, but with Woakes out, their strength in their batting, and games to come against NZ and Aus, two sides with potent swing bowlers of their own, I think it might be a problem.

There's a quite real chance one group is going to be decided on NRR because of a washout.

based on the forecast there is zero chance of a result tomorrow and not looking great for cardiff either on tuesday

From the forecasts I'm looking at, it seems likely that both games will be rain interrupted, but they're not predicting a total washout.

If both games take no result, then Australia-England becomes a virtual quarter-final (assuming NZ beat Bangladesh - if they don't, or there's a washout there too, it gets complicated).

It's looking pretty dire for the round 2 Group B games as well.

Indeed pretty bad ! Not quite as much as matches in West Indies , but... I'd get up early and watch the second innings but if the weather is iffy...Think I will just assume victory over Bangladesh and read it in the papers.

I know it can't happen but would make a lot more sense to start a 20 overs a side game at 1:30pm. There's no way we will get a result today by playing 50 overs a side if the forecast is correct.
