Well not the official pro. But once Ashington had realised they couldn't obtain there desired pro why didn't they register Wood? Given his fitness history there was always the likelihood that he'd be looking for a club to give him a run out to test his fitness.
Furthermore his father would have been on hand to make sure he put his boots on properly :hide

Still the same old Rocky then. Subdued for an hour then flashed leaden footed to a wide one.

Presumably the coaches have not been impressed with Harry Podmore-he's gone on loan to Derbyshire for the rest of the season.
Doesn't seem as if we gave him much of a chance - what are the chances he'll go straight into the Derby first team and take a stack of wickets against us next week? He'll probably get runs as well!

perhaps not, but it would be typical if he did

I don't think we'll suffer for the lack of Harry Podmore, tbh

Yes, he looks to be an outstanding bowler and a very good batsman too.

Surely he's not available, is he? You'd think almost every county would be after him, if he was.

I very much doubt he is available and if he is he'd be off to one of the bigger counties.

looking at the highlights, Stonemercenary scored most of his runs off the outside edge of his bat.

Sadly he'll get another chance because WI won't be following on this time. With a bit of luck he'll get a first baller

One of Lewis' funnier comments at a members forum a year or so ago was when someone asked him what happened to the batsman signing we had targeted ( think it was Wayne Madsen although that was never officially confirmed.) Lewis said something like " The problem you have trying to sign players is they expect to be offered a better deal than their current one." :facepalm Indeed!

To be fair I think the point he was trying to make is that Durham's financial situation meant that they could match offers made by all but the top clubs but not offer significantly better terms so that made it hard to persuade players to leave their existing counties.
Whether that's true or not is another question.
