I hadn't thought of that - you will surely be right though so that must mean Stokes is highly unlikely to be on that tour. Would be a huge decision by FTECB because the squad looks suspect as it is and will be terrible without Stokes.

Yep. I thought that run of unbeaten games would be the start of a recovery but it's all gone pear shaped again on and off the field. 2 big defeats to end with , a mass exodus , collapsing stands and now Stokes likely to be up before the beak.

Colly confirmed to Emmerson he will play next year and seemed very annoyed with the players jumping ship - said he'd hoped they'd have stayed and fought for the club.
He also implied we are looking at Kolpak signings - said something about needing to look at options for recruitment they wouldn't normally consider.

I know how you feel there. Its actually worse these days with access to so much county cricket on the radio and internet. I have enjoyed just listening to an hours commentary of any match when i get a chance over the last 6 months.

Yes. We haven't made many signings at all over the last few years so either Kolpak or domestic signings would be the change of approach Colly hinted at.

He said he was definitely going to play next year. Think he will but agree there might be a coaching vacancy post Ashes!

I think Colly's right - we do have good youngsters, and one thing's for certain in our favour, they will get opportunities at Durham. But we do definitely need some experience and some quality. If that has to be Kolpak, then I'm in favour, as long as the quality is there. I obviously don't know anything about the financial state of the club, but I think we do need to show as much ambition as we can in terms of targets - not only to immediately improve performances and help bring on the younger players - but also to convince our own talent that the club means business, and is not just a stepping stone to greater success elsewhere. Basically find a couple of new Benkensteins and Gibsons!
