Two year contracts for seam bowlers in their mid-thirties suddenly not a problem, it seems....

His forte seems to be that he's accurate-if you bowl wicket to wicket at the Riverside and tie batsmen down you'll take wickets. Colly rates him-depends then if things have changed since he formed that opinion.
Don't think we have any chance of landing a top seamer - they'd opt for 1st division. What's the view of a Gidman return?
Remember also McCarthy and Potts were reliable last year. Weighell looked the part at times.

I was really commenting on Rimmington's fitness record, which I presume is the reason he has played so few games in the last 2 years.

It looks as if he had a bad injury early in his career but has been ok since then - famous last words!
Could be a shrewd signing because the reports about him are reminiscent of Thorp and Hastings - reliable seamer, useful lower order batsman and very highly regarded as an exemplary professional by his team mates.
So there are logical reasons for signing him but I'd have been looking at him as an addition to a squad including Onions rather than a replacement.

Totally agree with this. Any word on other new arrivals? Surely we need another strike bowler and another batsman, given Burnham's absence? Much though I've always liked Gidman, he doesn't really fill either of those roles in my opinion.
