Seems like ICC and CA are not keen on Test matches although CA are giving mix signals, saying they want more Test matches yet at the same time are refusing to play extra test matches or even to invite other teams over for Test matches.

Seems like only ECB want test matches, they would prefer 2 or 3 test matches in the Ashes which Australia are refusing to have and have invited other teams to play test matches at home.

Really hard to see teams playing much test matches barring the one odd ashes test and the other singular test matches probably played in england.

*modded* me

talk about taking total control.

well played Aus. England have it all to do to save this match and keep the series alive. The men would not be able to do it.... can the women?

Well, the one great innings has been played :salute. Series over, well played Australia.

I suppose if England bat out the draw here then win all three T20s they can still take the Ashes home, but it doesn't seem likely. We know what would happen if the men were in this position needing to bat all day for the draw. Let's see if the women can do better. Fingers crossed.

The crucial part will be the final session.... fraught with danger for England.... under lights, pink ball, day 4 pitch.

Losing the ODI series was the real killer. They had to win that really, given that Aus are the ashes holders. If Aus win the series then the better side will have won it, imo

So far so good, but England will really need some runs on the board as well as keeping wickets. If they can get a lead, then even if they are bowled out in the final session, Australia might not have time to claim the win.

Going to be tense.

Halfway through the day's play, 49 overs to go and 2 wickets down. New ball due soon and the evening session to come - could still be a close finish!

Hats off to Knight and Elwiss for batting through the session, showing the kind of application that's almost invariably lacking from the men's team these days. They should have ensured the draw now, barring an insane collapse.

31 overs to go, but at some point England should take the lead, which will knock two overs out of the day for the change of innings (if it concludes). And of course they could call it a day with 15 overs to go. This means that realistically Australia only have 15 overs after the interval to take 3-4 wickets if they are going to have a chance.

Match over, and the draw agreed.

Well batted England, and all to play for in the T20s.

Wonder if there's anything to be said for using a different bat when going for a draw, one with no spring in it, where edges won't carry so far.

doubtless the men will pity the women for not being allowed to go out and express themselves

well done to England for securing the draw in comfortable fashion.

on to the T20's..... first.... win to England, second.... rained off without a ball bowled, ashes hanging on the third is my prediction

Chappell implying Jimmy the Saint should be playing for England women is all part of the dreary pre-Ashes phoney war.

I have abstained from pitch chat in here for ages but....what a mod pitch this was
