well done to England for securing the draw in comfortable fashion.

on to the T20's..... first.... win to England, second.... rained off without a ball bowled, ashes hanging on the third is my prediction

Judging by the forecast, you may well be right durham. Canberra's in for a wet week, it appears. Which is a modded, as I was planning to head to the game on Sunday. Let's hope it's not as bad as it appears.

Fairly predictable draw on a dire pitch : could have played six days on that and not got a result ! Pity as both sides have some fine cricketers and they all say how much they enjoy getting the chance to play the long game : they don't get enough chances so for this one to be spoiled by a lifeless strip ...
Even more than the men's game they need a bit of life in the wicket to produce a good game. Maybe next time.

Heavy rain and storms the forecast for Sydney today. It's not looking good for tonight's game, but I guess since you can cut a T20 down to 5 overs a side they might squeeze something in.

seems a shame that a series defining match could end up being a 5 over lottery...... only marginally better than a one stump bowl off in the indoor nets

well that ain't going to happen

Aus creaming England atm

a right old spanking, up to now, and absolutely the right thing to do.... crush them right at the start and then walk all over them later while they are still trying to recover from the shock. Proper Aussie mentality........well played.

Difficult to understand why England moved a bowler up to 5. I can only assume that when 4 wickets dropped quickly, brains became scrambled.

Well, drat. I thought the series would be closer than this, but Australia have been in front all the way. Well played.

A drawn series is still possible, but doesn't seem overly likely now.

A good afternoon at Manuka - pefect weather, and nice to see England keep the series (or at least the prospect of a drawn series) alive. Sadly I can't make Tuesday's denouement, but I will be glued to the TV.

A few observations:
Geez, Sarah Taylor's good, with both bat and gloves. Her stumping to remove Villani off a fast bowler was an incredible piece of reaction keeping.
England were generally very sharp in the field - they took every chance that was offered, and their ground fielding was excellent as well. Australia by comparison spilled a couple of chances early on, and managed to fumble quite a few balls over the rope. It could have made the difference.
Manuka usually produces a belter, but it felt as though the surface was a bit slow today - the ball wasn't quite coming on to the bat as quickly as the batsmen were expecting. Both sides obviously expected this and changed up to include extra spinners and didn't bowl too many overs of pace. Taking the pace off generally seemed to be an effective tactic.
Katherine Brunt was deservedly player of the match - an excellent innings took England up to a competitive total after Sciver and Taylor laid the groundwork, and her bowling was pinpoint accruate. Well played :salute .
Gunn did well and returned some good figures, but she only really got one over that mattered - her last two overs came when Australia were already 7 down and needing 12 an over to win, so the writing was on the wall. Her run-out to take out Mooney was a key moment - Australia were cruising the chase until then.
It was clearly not Ellyse Perry's day, with bat or with ball. England need to keep her quiet again on Tuesday to level the series.
Good crowd at Manuka - the attendance was over 4000, which I think is on part with the other grounds/games (although I can't find the figures). It was great to see so many women and children there - the fact that under 15s got in free surely helped - good move Cricket ACT!

Quite an entertaining game...not surprised to see England bounce back from the loss on Friday night to level the t20 segment. Makes the Tuesday game significant as apart from giving 20 over bragging rights , an England win would level the overall points.
OK Australia would still retain the Ashes but they would anyway under the old system by drawing the only Test. (I think the single Test is inadequate but never mind)
I've said all along there is little between these two teams. Either of them could smash it on Tuesday if one or two players fire ...like BFL I am looking forward to it.

Not much to add to BFL's summary - agree Taylor was excellent ...as was Sciver , with bat and in the field. Katherine Brunt will be glad to have played a big part in this win after having a rough time on Friday.

great result. I wonder why Knight dropped right down the order, is she unwell or injured slightly?

Seemingly Brunt at 5 is a strategy and not an over-reaction. Did Gunn play in the first T20?

Not sure. Brunt played at 5 on Friday. It didn't work then but it did today, as did the promotion of Wyatt.

Well played England. Definitely the better team, both with bat and ball. today.

Can't help but feel that Aus paid for a few too many drinks on Friday night - another effort on Tuesday like today's will prove that wrong.
