"Batsman Sunil Ambris, who made his international debut against England earlier this year, has earned a call-up to the West Indies Test squad for the tour of New Zealand, which starts from November 25. Ambris was picked in place of Kyle Hope, the only change to the squad that beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in the Test series in Bulawayo earlier this month."

Sunil Ambris announced his intention to play in the first Test, by hammering 153 against New Zealand A on the first day of their three-day match at Lincoln, as the West Indians made 451-9. Shai Hope struck 110, and Roston Chase made 49, but tellingly Jermaine Blackwood was out for four.

Mike what's your opinon on Ambris? Should he be in the test side right now? If so, at the expense of who?

Ambris for Blackwood, IMHO. Hetmyer misses out on an opportunity to put pressure on Blackwood, too. Powell continues to be a worry in the opening slot.

The West Indians declared overnight, and all the bowlers took wickets to dismiss New Zealand A for 237 all out. Medium pacer Raymon Reifer snared 2-27 and offspinner Roston Chase two wickets for seven runs, Astle topscoring with 68. The West Indians were 53-2 going into the final day, with Powell (7 & 4) and Hetmyer (12 & 10) failing again.

Scratch that...I'd forgotten that Kyle Hope had been dropped from the squad. Ambris in for Kope....

1) Kraigg Brathwaite
2) Kieran Powell
3) Shai Hope
4) Roston Chase
5) Jermaine Blackwood
6) Sunil Ambris
7) Shane Dowrich
8) Jason Holder
9) Dev Bishoo
10) Kemar Roach
11) Shannon Gabriel

In their second innings, the West Indians were bowled out for just 186, Kraigg Brathwaite hitting 88 and Shane Dowrich 47, but everyone else failed to get a start. At stumps, New Zealand A were 72 without loss, as the match ended in a draw.

For the first time in a long time WI's attack is starting to look threatning and could be their way forward in tests....Holder in NZ should be a threat, with the ball moving around, Gabriel is fast, seriously fast, and Roach has managed to transform himself into a good line and length bowler now, even though he has sacrificed pace, it seems to have worked for him now...if only Holder had more faith in bishoo though..

"Tim Southee, who is expecting the birth of his child, will miss New Zealand's first Test of the home summer, against West Indies in Wellington. Batsman George Worker has been added to the squad. On Tuesday, fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was also drafted in to the squad for the first Test with doubt lingering over Southee's availability."

Just like varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav although now yadav got the reputation of only being able to bowl at slow low wickets.
Sometimes pace is very overrated but can’t blame them since a good directed pace bowler is a difference in a flat pitch which is 99% of test decks.

TBH green pitch and small boundaries makes it hard to justify him plus he can’t bat.

Looks like WI have had a rethink of their batting.

Bishoo is a handy tailender with the bat. Santner isn't much of a Test spinner so arguably NZ have gone in with four seamers. NZ-Mitch is more of a batter in that line up. Actually, a batting average of 26 and bowling of 40 has the look of a 1990s England purveyor of bits and pieces.

I see NZ have moved on from Ronchi.
I always say that everybody's right.
