One thing is sure. SL players are incredibly fit. They have fielded for 175 odd overs in one innings in first test and 120 odd in this innings. They need not got through fitness test :wink.

Will be interesting to see how the Indian fielders handle the pollution problems.

Virat was on field for 2 full days like SL players and he did not complain about it. He will field the entire 3rd day as well. None of the Indian players had issues handling the pollution in Delhi when they played many ODI's, some tests and lot of IPL matches in Delhi. Every Indian knows Delhi is the most polluted city in India, so i don't think there will be surprise and complaints. After all they will be playing only 5 days there and that is nothing to what they have handled in the past in Delhi. There are 3 Delhi cricketers : Virat, Shikhar and Ishant. They have never had sever problems staying there. They are all fit in spite of polluted air.

Angelo Matthews was a Delhi Daredevil player. I think he had no problems before. Was he wearing a mask this test. KP and Sam Billing too played for Delhi and ddnt have any trouble even considering that the air pollution levels in Delhi must be significantly lesser than in Delhi which is one of the worlds most air polluted city. They never used a mask in Delhi from what i remember.

More of a case of preventive measures taken by Lankan cricketers.

Could the issue be the time of the year? The pollution seems to be particular bad at present

http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-vs- ... xz58I.html

Im guessing the Sri Lankan players are not used of these conditions.

My friend tried to cycle through India this last summer. He had to give up after 2 weeks due to the pollution. He said after a few days he was coughing up black stuff, and he felt like he was smoking 50 cigarettes a day. His eyes became red and irritable and was regularly sick. He had his own food with him. He comes from Sweden and did not consider the pollution before starting out.

He has done a lot of cycling around the world, and he reckons he had never experienced anything like it.

The pollution levels in Delhi is high. It is scientifically recorded. There is no debate about this.

SL cricketers did the correct thing by taking precaution by wearing the masks. Prevention is always better than cure.

Kuldeep and Indian physiology had masks on before match as well. Shami said that the Indian players were also affected.

Pretty rough deal for all the players involved. We take players off for bad light so they don't get hurt, but it seems that those incharge are happy to allow players to play in unsafe pollution for 5 days?

Perhaps they shouldn't be playing in the extreme temperatures of UAE/Australia.

quite right. Bring our brave boys home, right now. Nobody should be expected to give their wickets away, bowl badly, drop catches, or clatter dozily into each other, in those sorts of temperatures

Preventive measures should be provided to players like masks. Other relevant firstvaid medical facilities can be made available at stadium. Apart from that the matches should happen. There is some issue or other at every venue.

I always thought Perth is risky venue . It has such a lengthy crack running through the wicket. So much fuss is made about small cracks a and there we have such a lengthy crack that even sun of cracks on all grounds will be less than length of crack at Perth. 4 degrees temperature will be problematic for Asian players. 35 degree will be problematic for players of some countries.

Asking players to inhale poisonous fumes though has to be a worry, especially when exercising heavily. The pollution levels in Delhi at present are 6 - 8 times higher then the maximum safe rate. Those conditions have been making the players vomit. Not to mention the potential long term damage it might be causing them. Its a game of cricket
