Keeping the runs down at least.

Feels like it never happens that anyone wins the toss and bats in NZ.

Think maybe they should have looked at the bright sunshine not the green wicket

See wickets like this in new Zealand all the time, look like green tops but actually play very well when the sun is shining

WI would want to dismiss NZ below 300 after having opted to bowl first.

A good recovery after lunch by WI though, until the recovery by the redoubtable CDG at least.

It's been a match where West Indies never looked like taking many wickets, then all of sudden there is a delivery with a batsman's name on it (with the exception of Ross Taylor who gave his wicket cheaply).

Again the West Indies were slow on the over-rate and 3 overs still remained at stumps. Although there was a small delay at the beginning where the popping crease needed hammering in and Colin de Grandhomme hammering Roston Chase all over Hamilton did not help.

I thought that when Holder was suspended the obvious replacement would be Joseph. Instead a batting all rounder is picked to bat at eight. This is not a side that wants to win. Reifer should be batting at six.

That said the west indies fought back well in the second and third sessions. New Zealand made 286-7 and we will soon find out how good a score that is on this pitch. Raval has topscored so far with a useful 84. That innings could be crucial. Grandhomme batting at six did well with 58.

Finally! Roach ends with 3-58. This partnership could be painful.
