"Dwayne Smith has announced his retirement from all international cricket. Smith, 33, who is playing for Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, confirmed the decision before the start of the second qualifying final against Karachi Kings in Sharjah. His last West Indies appearance came at the 2015 World Cup."

Dwayne Bravo says it is unlikely he will play for West Indies again, and sees his future solely in the various short-format leagues around the world.

After tearing his hamstring in Australia's Big Bash League in December 2016, the Trinidadian allrounder endured a lengthy absence from all cricket. Bravo has not played for West Indies since the T20 series against Pakistan in the preceding September, and believes his chances of a recall into the team are slim.

I thought he was a long way finished at international level.

West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has called time on his international career. He will however continue to play franchise T20 cricket across the world.

The 35-year-old made his debut in 2004, and played 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 66 T20Is, although his last international appearance was more than two years ago, in a T20I against Pakistan in September 2016.

In a statement released to the media, Bravo said, "Today I want to confirm to the cricket world that I have officially retired from international cricket in all formats of the game. After 14 years when I made my debut for the West Indies, I still remember that moment I received the maroon cap before walking onto the Lords Cricket Ground against England in July 2004. The enthusiasm and passion I felt then, I have kept with me throughout my career.

"However, I must accept that for me to preserve my longevity as a professional cricketer, I must do as others before have done, leave the international arena for the next generation of players."

I met Dwayne once at WTM, he was doing work for the Trinidad tourist board in a promotional capacity; he was unbelievably arrogant and unpleasant to talk to. The guy running the stand had told me he spent most of the day asking people to look at his 20,000 dollar watch, and kept rolling his sleeve and pretending to look at the time so people would notice it. Probably not hard to see why he never lived up to his immense all round talent. He was so full of himself, no humility at all about him.

The irony was, I met Viv Richards the same day, who was working for the Antigua tourist board in the same capacity. The difference was incredible...... and Viv actually had the career to back up the bratish "look at me" attitude of Bravo, but was mild mannered, friendly and insisted on having a five minute chat when he found out I was a cricket fan. Came across as a sound, interesting bloke.

surprising how easy it can be to judge someone's quality. I wish I'd met Viv. I've seen Michael Holding a few times at CLS in his capacity as a presenter, but never had the chance to talk to him.
