Surprisingly dominant T20 series for Aus. Five wins, no losses and only one win each out of four and five games for England and New Zealand respectively.

Equally surprising is that this (apparently) puts Aus at #1 in the world in this format.

From what I had seen on Cricinfo before leaving work, they did terribly to only get that far. The rot must have set in as soon as I stopped keeping an eye on things, as they were at fifty before the end of the 4th over, I think.

To only make another 100 from 16 overs is a poor return. Maybe Aus did well to restrict them to so low a score.

they were 118 for 8 when I clocked the score, so I was a bit surprised that they batted out their overs

The pitch was noticeably slower compared to Friday and aided spin once the shine was taken off the new ball. Outdoor temperature on Wednesday was fresher at 20C compared to the muggy 27C on Friday. Missed the Ross Taylor and Ish Sodhi fireworks but it sounded good whilst under the concourse.

Shame showery rain ruined the outcome, another New Zealand wicket or two mid-innings would have made for an exciting finale. Not sure what the logic was batting Ashton Agar at 3 but he looked like Bambi on Ice when at the crease or running between the wickets.

Well played Australia on the tournament victory, worthy winners :salute

ABC radio saying this morning that they were still second (narrowly) to Pakistan. Even so that's a huge lift (they were seventh) for five matches ! Says something about the relative scarcity of international t20 , I suppose.
Personally I don't really disagree with Bayliss that it might be better to leave this format to the franchise outfits : players are at risk of burnout with all the international fixtures and I'm not sure these random "series" really grab a lot of attention. Have a WC by all means but spare us a plethora of three match t20 add-ons to a tour...

Anyway as to this well done Australia : Warner did a good job leading the troops and a couple of the fringe players put their hands up. Minimal Test player involvement : points to more and more separation of roles which probably isn't such a bad thing ( see second paragraph !)

Hope Warner isn't too knackered to do a job in SA...
