TBH ECB might be doing it.
the next franchise thing would be played in 15 overs and 10 balls.
somehow ECB things Children and people can't understand 20 overs lol.

Never in my life have I ever seen a more stupid organisation than ECB.

From never playing india much since 1993-2011.
Then trying to taking India on money and power and control from 2008-2014 ish period and now this.

TBH you could add many more to the list.

Wouldn't surprise me if the franchise stuff fails for england anyway.

one it might mean too much T20 stuff and people could possibly just watch the T20 blast instead of the 16 overs stuff, think county members would be more likely watch the t20 stuff and support the clubs and they do have the head start on the fans as well.

plus would they even be able to sign the best players anyway because of the visa issue, would ECB relax the rules for the competition, the players coming in might not be much different to the blast in the past, in reality the only thing that is a positive with the competition is the every game is live on telly and some on FTA.

although the last point might be enough for it to be a success, but ECB trying their best efforts to make sure it fails.

ECB are idiots anyway considering English folk or the people that watch the game here are the most into tradition and into the counties identity, so what genius thinks it is a great idea to make the new format so totally different to other forms of cricket, it isn't like T20 cricket is failing either considering T20 format provides the highest ratings and crowds in england and the county game.
So why are they suddenly creating a new format which could backfire considering the people that like T20 cricket and other forms of the game might not actually enjoy the game.

it is quite possible T20 works as a format because it is generally same as the other two formats so it allows the people that like cricket already to enjoy it and different from test cricket and ODI cricket to tap in into the casual and new fans.

reasoning behind this move means ECB are not sure about the new proposal and don't want to have a similar product to other T20 competition worldwide, plus they are not sure if England can have 2 t20 competition and so are making one a different format.

Although surprised ECB didn't mention that they changed the format for BBC, they wanted the game to be over in 2 and half hours and not close to 4 hours a game.

T20 Blast is done and dusted in 2hrs 45mins. No excuse for the BBC to demand a shorter format of T20 cricket to broadcasting reasons, especially when they broadcast live snooker and that sometimes runs into overtime.

If I was the ECB, I would have turned round and tendered the Free to Air rights to ITV whose sports coverage is actually decent. Sometimes televised darts runs into overtime, but all matches get shown.
