Good fightback from the Ireland openers. They should at least be able to make Pakistan bat again. It'll be a comfortable victory for Pakistan at some point tomorrow though.

I had a feeling that 300 would be a good score in these conditions - if only Ireland hadn't let it slip when Pakistan were 159-6, they could have been right in this.

Any ideas on attendance?

Would be nice to see Ed move on to a substantial score.

Funny how difficult it is to find attendance figures for games.

a bit of googling suggests that 5000+ were in attendance for day 1 before it was rained off, and a sell-out (around 8000) were expected on Saturday, but I can't find anything official.

Attendance looks sparse but still better than a west indies test.

Amir bowled niall o'brien for 18!

Amir again! Porterfield out for a battling 32....

Do Ireland have any other tests or full member contests lined up? All I recall hearing about is a T20 tri series with Scotland and Holland.

Whatever the result Ireland have shown grit here.

They're playing a couple of T20s against India later in the summer.

Well played Kevin O'Brien. A place in the record books as Ireland's first test centurion, and whatever the result, Ireland have given a better account of themselves than many (me included) expected. Pakistan are still the favourites here, but it is not the foregone conclusion that it seemed to be earlier in the game. :salute
