Cheers for the info Brendy.

The two absentees really weakens our batting strength although Wood is capable of making runs.

Be nice if Roussow can go on to make a decent score tomorrow.

Lewis doing a great job here with his damaged finger.

Hopefully Dawson's finger isn't sufficiently damaged that he can't return later.

Amla finishes his red ball stint with us with the fourth highest average in D1, and the top runscorer in D1. He's also the only person averaging more than 50 who doesn't have their average 'inflated' with any not-outs. Shame he couldn't score just 8 more runs, to finish with a nice round 500 from 5 matches.

If it isn't to be Steyn, then Amla is very welcome to return in September.

(Not that he's leaving yet. Hopefully he can be just as successful in the one-day competition for us now.)

Specifically in relation to the Somerset game, he badly rolled his ankle inside just two overs whilst fielding on the boundary. Spent the majority of the match off the field, including some time in hospital. So that's Crane, Northeast, Abbott, Dawson, McManus, and Holland who've been injured already for us this season. In addition to Berg's paternity leave.

In relation to the season is general, he says that he's off his game at the moment. Can't find the rhythm. Not being involved in any pre-season matches for us (not that the weather exactly allowed us to have too many), followed by five back-to-back matches (little room to work on getting things right), hasn't helped.

I'd predicted Munro (NZ are the only international team with a completely free calendar, and the likes of Wagner, Taylor and Williamson have already been signed up by other counties).

I absolutely did not predict Mujeeb. For starters, I've never heard of the kid.

But if he's as good as he sounds, we've got ourselves two cracking signings. (But we'll need to bowl exceptionally well, because we'll still got no middle order again like last season. Strong top order, to include Munro, and then nothing below it.)

I'm not sure how either.

I'd given up at not alot for three with probably the weakest batting lineup at 4 to 11 Hants have played in a long while.

It's incredible to think that if you put Northeast (for Weatherley), Dawson (for Taylor) and Abbott (for Fidel) into this XI, and we transform into possibly the best side in the country. At the very least, we'd be one of the favourites for the cup. But yes, without those three, the batting is dreadful outside the top three. To the extent that I think we'll struggle to even qualify with this XI.

OK, hopefully Abbott will ultimately play a big part in the group for us, but it sounds like Dawson and Northeast will miss the entire month.

Given the injuries though, I don't know why we didn't turn to Alsop and Wood. One-day cricket is easily Alsop's best format, and Wood would have avoided us selecting three no.11s (it's not as if Fidel is economical enough to justify being selected as a bowler-only).

If you include the Cardiff game we've for all intents and purposes lost all 8 tosses this season, admittedly a couple were uncontested, but amounts to the same thing.

Amazing that the weather hasn't interrupted yet. Not only are the dark clouds very visible on screen, but I've had thunder, lightening and heavy rain for about an hour now. The prospect of bad weather is why I decided to stay at home and watch on TV, rather than pop down.

Elgar gone! Huge wicket. Lets keep them to under 250 please guys (and then let DL reduce that target down).

Forecast suggests we could be off for over three hours now, if really unlucky. Subject to the outfield drying in time though, I don't think there's much risk of us not getting in at least the required 10 overs though. Looks like a dry couple of hours up to 10pm.

That 6th wicket at the end will help to reduce the DL target, if it comes to that.
