Not sure WA would have realised, so perhaps Colly told him

This will probably be the kiss of death but I thought he bowled pretty well yesterday.

I see Calum MacLeod is currently 94 not out from 64 balls against the number one ranked ODI side!

100 now from 70 balls.

he's playing against England bowlers, of course, rather than the SA or Aussie bowlers that he'd most commonly meet on the county circuit.

I still think it's odd that we declined the chance to re-sign Costa, btw

Yes. It's such a small squad and desperately needed strengthening but we just tinker around the edges.

Collapse on now Latham out for 67 and Davies for 0 and the lead is only 12 with 5 wickets left - or 4 if Steel isn't batting,

Cough kin the latest to go and Steel is in now. What a start for him as captain - arm injury and heading for a 2 day defeat against a side who have improved in recent times but are not exactly world beaters.
Think this will be the second time this season we've lost inside two days after being out for under 100 in the first innings.

"Prospects for the immediate future look bleak" is a club tweet regarding the weather but an unfortunate choice of words unless someone is displaying a good sense of humour!

Play abandoned for the day. If we can get another 100 runs it might be interesting but the chances of getting them aren't exactly great and I think a Derbyshire win before lunch is likely.

I'd no sooner gone to the allotment when the rain came.... impeccable timing or wot?

at least it ensured the match went into a 3rd day. Not sure it would have done otherwise

Agreed. I know he didn't quite make it first time around, but across all formats, is Coetzer really no better than what we have? Considering that he lives locally, and is apparently eager to carry on playing, it would be a low risk punt which could/should improve our lamentable batting line up.

he didn't quite make it when we had a much better team. Perhaps there was something else going on in the background... something we aren't aware of

a question for the members meeting perhaps?

I'd have thought so.

They might dodge a bullet with the member meeting , scheduled for close of play tomorrow so if , as expected , it's over before lunch there probably won't be many attendees. I won't be able to get there until around tea time - if the game is still in progress then we'll be in a good position but in all likelihood it'll be over long before then.

Hasn't Coetzer got a full time admin post at BH which probably pays more than Durham would offer?
A certain M A Jones has scored 25% more runs than K. Coetzer in NEPL this season (6inns each).
Both Jones and Davies are 21 year old-I'd persist with them, together with Harte.

Harte hit on the head and knocked off his feet according to Martin Emmerson. Luckily he's ok.
Are FTECB involved in pitch preparation - a seaming green top when the uncontested toss rule guarantees we'll bat first and various players getting hit with the captain the main victim!
It seems to be exactly the sort of pitch we do not want. 42 extras now though and maybe there's a tiny chance of a miraculous win if we can get another 50 runs.

well, we are still batting and Harte is still batting, so at least we weren't skittled inside the first hour, as I rather feared we might, and Harte is presumably okay (or surviving manfully).

lead is 129
