3 home matches and our 3 first innings scores have been 91, 184 and 96. Our second innings scores have been 170, 403 and 367

our only foray into away match territory saw us put 500 on for the first innings

Yep. A massive disadvantage.

We might need to give Gareth Harte a new name.... start calling him Stuart Poynter, for example, for when Notts, Lancs and Sorry begin to circle

Lewis implied Salisbury would stay now that he feels confident of regular first team games. Then again he also implied Borthwick and Onions would stay too - seem to remember him saying there would be " no problem " persuading Borthwick to sign a new deal.
Of course Hampshire might want Salisbury back.

Don't be surprised. It's called D2. You came back from the dead against Leicester too, I believe.

There's that saying at Test level, that one bad session can cost you the match. Well in D2, it's basically one good session can win you the match. You can be rubbish for 75% of a match against half the D2 teams, and still win it.

It's why I've been calling for three divisions for a years now. Simply abolishing certain counties would be completely wrong in my book, and I would never accept that. They have loyal supporters who don't deserve to lose their county. But those sides add almost nothing to red ball cricket, certainly in relation to assisting the England team. Stick them away in another division amongst themselves, thus hopefully giving them some sort of platform to grow from, whilst also allowing the mid tier counties to play more competitive matches. Ones where you need to win more than one or two sessions, to win the match.

(Not that I mean to take any credit away from the way you turned that match around. You can only beat what's in front of you, and that's a great comeback win for you.)

Even more good news for Durham. Looks like Gloucs are going to draw against Kent. Fine effort by them.

I think you're right. Winning after following on and then after being out for under 100 in the first innings is a great recovery but would be virtually impossible in division 1 and also against the stronger sides in div 2 so it suggests a 3 tier system.

Yes. I thought they were doomed. 6 down at tea I think.

Absolutely. Congratulations Gareth Harte. A proper, quality innings - almost forgotten how it feels to say that about a Durham batsman! Hopefully a return to form for Rushworth too.

I think Rushworth has looked more like his old self. Was superb against Leicestershire in their doomed run chase until he got injured and looked like getting a wicket anytime yesterday in the Derbyshire second innings.
