It pains me that Sam Robson looked like a very decent prospect at one stage, with one very obvious (and therefore very workable) flaw. But we sacked him off, he scored a ton of runs, and then we picked this shower instead and he's obviously stopped trying now. The whole system really needs to take a long look at itself.

One wicket down on a greenish pitch not bad for England on the first morning.

If it was not bad enough for Jennings to fail again, he got out to the spinner, with the commentators saying he was a good player of spin, before selection for SL.

Being outclassed here as well. Bumrah just served him up an edge scrapper. I like Moeen, and totally agree. He's judged on spin one minute, then asked why he doesnt knock up 100s batting at 8.

He is a 3 though. He should be able to bat at the top, its where he made his mark.

I think he likes his role as utility player, can bat anywhere from 2 to 8 when required, and can play a holding or attacking role as a spinner depending on what's required by the team.

Give him a more rigid position in the batting order or tell him he's the number one spinner and he doesn't like it so much, and it tends to affect his performance.

Indian fielding seems to been keen to celebrate Cooks last test.

28 innings since Root last 100.

Only once past 50 in this series.

Haven't watched any of today's play but 141/4 off 70 overs is suggesting the pitch is difficult to bat on, or India are bowling well or we are in too negative a mindset after previous test pitches or we're just a very ordinary test batting team.
