Du Plessis says SA won't sledge the Aussies on the subject of ball tampering.

I should think not given the SAn history of ball tampering and cheating.

Paine is not in the team. We have to assume that CA got dropping him as captain correct this time.

Independent investigation into Australian cricket finds it institutionally arrogant and unethical from the board room to the pitch.

CA wriggles under the pin.

It's my opinion that Waughism led to the moral diminishing of the game across the world. Maybe a new and successful Aussie cricket culture can start making the game more likeable again and influence the other countries to rediscover their sense of fair play. Which is what the game used to be famous for.

Although NZ have already made that change, the Aussies could be more influential.

Many sections of the report were redacted. Cricket Australia said this was due to defamation risk, at the advice of external lawyers, due to the honesty of the review.

From the article.

And in another section.
"and that the player’s anti-harassment code be modified to ban abusive sledging"
Hopefully it will be revealed,in time, which 7 recommendations haven't been approved by CA.
As long as Lehman has any influence in Australian cricket their attitude will never change imo.

After Jayasuriya's arrest, Arjuna Ranatunga must have thought "no one out does me".....

Hes been arrested in connection with an incident at his Government ministry that left one person dead from a gunshot wound, and two others fighting for their life. Depending on where you read, one side seems to be that a lot of people turned up in a riot and he had to shoot himself through the crowd to protect himself, the other is that the riot was caused by the shooting......

Its a situation that has suddenly brewed up in the last couple of days, seems the President of the country has booted out the cabinet and democratically elected PM, leading to a lot of anger spilling out on the streets that he might be taking a more authoritarian/dictatorial stance to due process. Doesnt help that he has replaced him with a controversial figure involved with human righs abuses in the civil war. Strikes and protests have been called in response, which have already left people dead in the aforementioned situation. Parliamentary speaker pleading with those heading to Colombo to protest not to turn it into a "bloodbath"!!

It could blow over, it could escalate into a major issue, I guess we see. At the moment, I guess if it does escalate, it wouldnt surprise me if the series was called off.

Not sure I would be waiting to find out, seeing as though these protests are going to start right now..... England playing in Colombo as we speak. Might have been better to take the game out of the city, or maybe cancel it all together, as a matter of precaution.

If you have Sky the Pan v NZ game is on 729
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

Southee and Boult are such stalwarts for NZ. They've been a reliable pair for most of this decade in all formats.
