Only seen the scorecard, but it looks a bit KP-esque the way Curran saw out the collapse playing within himself and then thrashed the bowlers with the tail.

Not born in SA though to extend the connection (though TC was, in Cape Town). Junior was born in Northampton.

He reminded me of Botham last summer when he was hooking off his eyebrows.

he pretty much allowed england to score 350 in the last test as well.

Out of players that played a lot, Id have to say Mohammed Rafique for BD back a few years was utterly rubbish. He couldnt turn the ball on dustbowls, and was more of a slow left arm seam bowler. Abdul Razzak was also rubbish.... in fact, theres been quite alot from BD through the last 20 years.

Ashraful was insanely bad, he bowled all over the place.

TBH I tend to forget about that period of bangladesh cricket since they were basically associates they only really started being a good team around 2007 or 08.

When Bangladesh became a full member they didn't even have a first class system so probably understandable they didn't really have players in the first decade of status.
Although after the buffer period of 10 yrs they done ok in spin.
Shakib, Mehedi hasan, Takijul islam they all pretty decent at spin and do the basic well and are some threat on a dustbowl, can't really say the same with Akila though.

The best for any team is the legendary Bernard Bosanquet. Followed by the unremembered underarm bowler George Simpson-Hayward, who according to WIsden was a handy full back too. Then Akila.

very misleading stat considering sri lanka been playing on dustbowl against Australia and SA, they will be found wanting on a flatter deck though and even on a decent turner in pallekele he goes at 5 or 6 runs an over.

Got to be nonsense, hasn't it?

he'll probably be dropped for not putting the SL bowlers under more pressure, thereby denying Leach and Santiago the opportunity to feast upon dispirited deliveries..... selfish b*****d!

Ben Stokes with two brilliant bits of fielding to turn what has been an otherwise poor session for England into one that's just about passable.

England will be lucky to register much of a first innings lead now though.

England probably ahead I would have thought with SL batting last. Not much work from the seamers so far.

Two proper batters in and the new ball a long way off, so might be a case of attrition for the next two hours.

Valuable wicket for Root.

Maybe the new ball can nick the tail out. Getting tight now.

England's other opening bowler allowed only 2 overs, I see

just as well he top scored in the first innings, or there would be no point to him being there

England demonstrating once again what a complete mess they've made of selection. They really haven't got a clue who to pick, or where to play them
