Looks a classic innings from Pujara. Aussies' day though.

Chet is the key. Others can bat around him to recover from the top order collapse.

Problem is it'll take him all day to make 30

I wish everyone bats a day and scores 30. That would draw the match. :laugh

He has a bad overseas record but at least he is making ball old for other batsmen to follow. Doing the job of openers here taking shine off the ball. At this point we need to bat at least a day and a session to fight back. SR is not the important issue than crease occupancy in t this situation IMO.

Came almost as opener in 2nd over of match. Batted almost whole day getting out in 88th over, the last ball of day. See off the shine, convert start to score 123 in a very tough pressure situation, moreover on first day of test series. Perfect innings :clap

With 250 there is something for bowlers to defend.

It said in the preview that recent drop in pitches have not been high scoring here in Adelaide, whether or not that's true I don't know, but it feels India are way short.… The highlights are a category of errors on how to play in these conditions.

I guess it's too much to ask modern day bats to feel around a bit before the booming drives come out.

Run-out has indeed been an issue for him. Virat Kohli was involved in 2 run-outs with him iirc, once when there was no run. Also Chet is the slowest runner between wickets in our team which does not helps.

He was trying to protect the strike. And it was a indinf bit of feeling, he had one stump to aim at, and hit it on the nose

Most recent games in Adelaide have been day night which has affected totals. But it definitely feels as though India are sub par. I guess we'll see.

Aus bowled and fielded very well - but that is their strength currently. We'll see how good 250/270 is when Aus bat. Not a strong area lately...

I had the feeling that India got a bit of stage fright - very determined to start the series strongly, maybe a little too keen.

Not sure when the last time in an away series, india strong suit was the bowling, even pregame kohli said he knows the bowlers will get 20 wickets per game the question was can the batsman score enough runs to win the games.

at the moment looks like the bowlers been too short, far too many easy leaves for the batsman.

The peril of those early wickets was shown yesterday. Ball didn't move much at all after 15 or so overs. Yet the damage was already done.

It's going to be a low scoring series, one has to guess

It's not often you see Australia score at 2 an over. I thought in the second and third session the scoring would open up as Khawaja and co. got themselves in and the shine went from the new ball, but the Indian bowlers did very well after lunch, keeping the Australians tied down.

The Australian innings is going along similar lines to the Indian one. It doesn't look like there will be much of a first innings lead either way.
