got to be a die hard if you take a sleeping bag to matches. Would make a good protest about the way the CC is being scheduled if it was properly co-ordinated around the country, although it would probably require a lot of research at the library cross checking membership details and telephone numbers from registers, electoral rolls, phone books and such like.......... If only there was some other global medium to organise something like that...... :hmmm

I got my names mixed up - it was southwood I was talking to! Hopefully see you tomorrow.

Assuming the experiment is being repeated around the country it might be a reason why there were a lot of similar(ish) scores in the mid-300's in the first innings of games today. Decent weather and similar pitches.

Is it not a "drop in" pitch rather than artificial one if it can be cut and rolled?

Yes, I think it must be.

I think I'll go down for the second half again tomorrow. With a bit of luck we'll bat first and put on 300 and plenty again when I'm not there to jinx it

That's my plan too! Weather forecast is excellent and - although this probably will jinx it - it might be a good toss to lose. Lots of teams back chasing any target so want to bowl but I think even our suspect line-up ( one swallow not making a summer!) has a better chance if we bat first. It'd be interesting to know what we'd have done against Northants had we won the toss.

I hope we bat first. I always get very nervous when we are batting, so I'd prefer to watch us defend something than chase

Yep. The first game was touch and go until near the end of the second innings and that was after we had 2 centurions with a 200 run stand. Suggests that batting under the pressure of a run chase could be a problem! Especially as that attack looks unlikely to limit many teams to moderate totals. Other thing with batting first is you'd probably have to get there for the very start to see anything of the opening partnership. 11.05 would be too late!

Well it is going to be a run chase because Leicestershire have won the toss and are going to bat.

Just got here so don't know how the pitch is playing, it's 155/7 and the last wicket went at 112. Trevaskis has bowled out with 2/37 so that might be a suggestion it's not a day where 300 plus is par.

thy've carried on well up to now.... 151-7

good figures for Trevaskis 2-37 off his 10, which suggests that he hasn't given them much in the way of release shots

Leics seem to be trying to just bat the full 50, which is the sensible thing to do..... Later in the year when England find themselves in this position in their WC semi final, they will try and dominate the bowling with some really aggressive stroke play.... bat their way out of a hole.... express themselves.... play their natural game.

I see that crapinfo has Carse down as Right Fast

is he that quick? I wasn't sure the other day. Certainly a bit quicker than Salisbury, but not sure about Fast

Klein has hit 4 runs off his last 26 balls faced, so keeping him on strike seems a good idea atm

Probably. They seem to just be knocking it around.

It's been so long since I've seen him before the previous game but have a recollection he can be quick but not sure he's a regular 90mph type. Although Colly always said he had the potential to play internationals so maybe he is. If he stays fit for more than a week or two we will find out!
