The deal Durham offered Bunny was a rolling one year deal, IIRC, which made sense from a Durham perspective given his injury record, but which didn't provide him with the security that he clearly wanted. I can understand both points of view. When Lancs offered him more security than we were prepared to offer it made sense for him to go and he went with my blessing and my thanks for all the years of excellent service he gave Durham. At the same time it was probably just too big a risk for Durham to award him a longer term deal (on a very healthy salary, I'd imagine) at a time when FTECB were screwing us to the floor.

Just couldn't find something that suited both sides, which sometimes happens in sport. One of those things.

Bunny staying fit and taking loads of div 1 wickets suggested that perhaps we should have had more faith in his fitness, but unfortunately our crystal ball was confiscated by FTECB as part of the punishment rescue deal

I'm a bit old school, probably naive, thinking that the benefit awarded in 2015 provided that financial security and, in return, warranted some loyalty. Short termism from him imo. Had he stayed,in all probability he'd have been awarded the coaching position given to Gidman whereas what lies ahead for him now at the end of the season?

According to Martin Emmerson Alex Hales is likely to make his Notts comeback against us on Friday. It's an outground so presumably short boundaries?!

Yes, think Clark will have to go. I'm not sure about Stokes- he's not in the squad for the Ireland game on Friday so he could play for us. There's a one-off T20 against Pakistan on Sunday-don't know if he's involved in that one.

I see the squad for the Ireland ODI and the solitary T20 against Pakistan is the same so Stokes won't be required by England until the first ODI against Pakistan next Wednesday. Two one day games for Durham would be ideal preparation but is he being rested from the two weekend games or was he left out in order to play for us?

I'm assuming Stokes is excluded to get some 50 over practise with Durham. Given today's revelation regarding Hales unpopularity with the England team ,Friday's "clash" could be tasty.

Agree with that............ although he may not be considered to be coaching material, of course. Not all good players have what it takes to be good coaches and sometimes that's very obvious to the management but not necessarily to the player himself. Certainly Lancs weren't keen on the idea.

He might be leaving something else in the crease if Wood and Stokes are firing at full throttle.
