Notts have put us in.

last 5 years we are 3-2 up against Notts.

I noticed when checking that, that it was back in 2016 that we were playing Jennings at number 10 and he walked out to the crease and calmly hit the last 2 balls for a 4 and a 6 to secure a last ball win.

And now the start delayed by rain. I think there's a case for having the toss redone in these instances because you might want to play a different side depending on how many overs are lost.

I see Raine is down to open on the BBC card with Harte replacing Clark and down to bat at 6 with Burnham 7. Famous last words but that looks a bit stronger to me with Carse and Trevaskis more than capable at 8/9. Raine might not come off as opener but he might just get is off to a quick start in the power play and of he doesn't we'll be no worse off than when Clark was there.

It might be the weather forecast makes them certain it'll be - at best - a shortened game so a pinch hitter at the top might be useful. I'd give it a go anyway. Other option is that scorecard order is wrong and it'll be Harte coming in at the top.

It appears that we might now that we have a new coaching set up in place. Certainly prepared to shake things up more than the previous regime.
Lot of logic in Raine opening- he can put bat to ball and had plenty of practise as an opener in his early years.

Slow starts have been a feature of the campaign, I suppose, and it certainly cost us at New Rd. Maybe they had a team talk and Raine put his hand up?

I'm guessing a point won't help us much since the Lancs loss.

However, I don't mind that, tbh. For me the point of this comp was to try and build a bit of confidence amongst the players which I think they've done. It has been a creditable campaign whether they make the qualilimifiers or not. Lots of things to build on for the CC and for the T20 cup later in the year.

compare that to last year where a shocking one day cup campaign just compounded a poor CC start and we ended up with a dismal CC campaign

I agree. Plenty of positives regardless of what happens regarding qualification. Competitive in every game so far and probably should have beaten Lancs the other day.
We're not remotely one of the best sides but have done much better than I thought so anything else is a bonus imo.
