Off now and radar indicating rain for next 120 mins. Rushy's radar certainly not working today, nor Carse.

Yep. That opening spell must have been hopeless. Did well to peg them back but yet again we concede a partnership down the order. Very costly when our own batting is so dodgy.

this never ending tendency to concede substantial 7th wicket partnerships from a position of strength is exactly why I'd sign Monty on a season long deal, capt. The ball gets old, our seamers get tired and we have neither a big snarling fast bowler to bomb the tail out nor a spinner to bamboozle them out. In all the years we've been a first class county I can't think of a single decent home grown spinner that we've managed to produce, so I'd have Monty in a heartbeat, given that he is actively looking for a county to take him in. Season long see how he goes, see if he still has it, see if he has the temperament, see if he could fit in in the dressing room. It may be that he wouldn't pass any of those tests, but I'd certainly be trying to find out

I agree. We'd have nothing to lose and potentially a fair bit to gain. A good spinner should be a key weapon to get rid of the lower order.

As you said, it seems strange that no county has given him a chance. He wouldn't be expensive so I think we could have a look at him and let the lead high performance coach judge his state of mind and the state of his game!

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
A) The last 4 wickets go down quickly followed by a disastrous collapse
B) The usual massive partnerships down the order followed by a catastrophic collapse.

There was a lot more play today than the forecast suggested so who knows what will happen on Thursday ( if the game is still going by then ) but the current forecast seems to be a more than 50% chance of showers for most of the day wirh around 20% in the last session. Should be a full days play tomorrow.

Yep! We can pretty much guarantee the game will progress quickly when we're batting so it all depends on when our second innings starts! Once it does it won't be long before Derbyshire are batting again - assuming they need to.

No wickets so far and the lead is under 100. Not sure if this is good news but the forecast for tomorrow has dramatically improved - so I think we can take the draw out of the equation.

looking at the hundred runs they've scored for the 7th and 8th wickets, I guess we might be needing the rain tomorrow. If we do end up with a first innings lead it will probably be quite small, so our traditional 2nd collapse won't leave them with too many to chase

Rushy and Carse have bowled 30 overs for 151 runs and the others have bowled 49 overs for 80 runs. Difficult to fathom that one out

Yep..Seems odd- very poor with the new ball for some reason. 2nd one due now so if the last 2 don't go quickly it could be curtains. I agree with you though, a modest lead won't be much use if/when it's followed by the usual horrific batting.

I see that Ben Raine has been given the new ball with with Rushy.

I've been fancying this, so it'll be interesting to see if he can take wickets with it or stifle things for Rushy to take them at the other end
