Northants in a bit of turmoil? Wakely has resigned as captain.

we like a bit of turmoil in the opposition camp ahead of a game

Gawd bless Rushy, btw, that over pulled us out of the fire

Is it fair to say that Carse's place is under threat for the next one?

22-2-109-1 is a pretty poor return in a low scoring tricky to score match.

I think so. He's not done much, although if he can get it right the extra pace could be handy.
I was talking to one of the regulars who said Pringle would have been given another chance as opener but is injured and Jones will get another chance v Northants.
Makes sense because there's no point giving people 1 game and then dropping them.

it was Bangers who dropped Critchley on 22 today, after Lees dropped him on 28 in the first innings

there's that hundred runs again that we keep talking about. Didn't hurt us this time, but it has done, and will do so again unless we stop dropping people who go on to make the scores that we end up losing by.

There will always be dropped catches, of course, but the way we seem to select exactly the wrong people to drop, is concerning

still.... we are under way.... even if it was by the seat of our pants

we could do with Capt Bangers scoring a few. He hasn't quite come off yet, and this was the perfect opportunity because he wasn't fighting a rearguard action for once

Yep. Seems to happen far too often - perhaps a general lack of confidence or tension.
Maybe this week they're paying a 25th anniversary tribute to Chris 'knowing my luck he'll get a hundred' Scott dropping Brian Lara who made the most of his reprieve by scoring another 483 runs!

Yeah. He's had a quiet few weeks, think it's only a matter of time before he gets going...from our point of view we need him to do well but not quite well enough for an Ashes recall.

Must have been something in that spaghetti, DF. Rushy must have also have had some.

Nor am I impressed with his captaincy. Opening again with Carse in the 2nd inns after he had gone for 6 an over in the 1st?
He's still captaining for Australian conditions not Riverside ones.

I still think a spinner would help us. Trevaskis is a batsman really, I think, who might be a useful bowling option in a white ball match, but not in this.

Bring in Monty!

Bugger his lack of runs, I'd rather have a spinner capable of taking 5 fer on day 4 than play someone who might scratch around for an extra few runs on days 1, 2 or 3

Yes, hopeless few overs from Trevaskis today .

Think this is the second game in 2 years where our notorious batting collapses, ironically, lead to a win.
The one last year when we beat Leicestershire after following on hundreds of runs behind, I remember thinking after lunch on day 4 we'd just about done enough to salvage an unlikely draw...and then there was a clatter of wickets followed by another clatter when Leics got bowled out in the last session chasing a modest total.
And then today, I was thinking of something around 300 in 60 overs as a target but they capitulated so under 300 in 70 odd overs was the equation. It may well have been a draw if the lower order hadn't capitulated.
