Hate to be a killjoy but this quote from the peakside blog puts the victory in perspective.
For a good hour or so of the morning session, Durham looked set to leave Derbyshire around 300 to win in the final two sessions. As it was, the final target of 268 represented nose bleed territory for the county from an historical perspective, our previous highest successful chase being the 224 we successfully chased, for the loss of six wickets, in 2001.

Yep. I guess the hope is that finally getting a win will restore some confidence and start a recovery.
But a narrow win over a side that has been languishing in div 2 for years is not , by itself, a landmark win.

Yep. It's something to - hopefully - build on. Coming out on top in a nail biting finish might turn out to boost confidence more than a simple win would have done. I guess we'll make that judgement after the next game.

Unchanged squad for Northants. Forecast looks dire after day one!

Well, the same fixture last year was over inside two days so there's a chance!

Yes , looks almost certain that it's going to be a case of using day1 as an opportunity for batting practise given that we're almost certain to be inserted.Ideal for Jones to try and establish himself.

Yep. They need to try and get a settled opening partnership, constantly tinkering with it is unlikely to work.

Nothing, it's just they're not good enough. Mystery why Bancroft won't open -he's always virtually doing it at 3.
Northants have Matt Coles playing, on loan presumably.

If Bancroft doesn't open I think the best candidate is Cameron Steel. He might be totally out of sorts but has more chance imo of scoring runs than the other candidates.
