T20 lineup should be interesting. Bancroft isn't available on Friday so I'd go
Short
S.Steel
Lees
Clark
Raine
Burnham
Eckersley
Harte
Poytner
Rimmington
Whitehead

Looks good. Who would you have as captain? Lees or Raine maybe?

I'd hope Raine will have a pivotal role with both bat and ball so I wouldn't wish to overburden him. Lees has previous T20 captaincy experience.

Yep. Tough to captain as an allrounder- as we found out with Coughlin! Did he not end up with an almost unbelievably bad economy rate.

Thanks. I'm surprised he's here, leading BBL scorer 2 years in a row I think. I'd have thought he'd have had a lot of offers- must be a connection with Franklin, North or Bancroft.
Although Franklin sounded a bit cautious talking about him -went on about no guarantees because form is fickle and how he's interested in seeing if he succeeds! Or words to that effect.
He was asked if we'd change the usual game plan and bring the boundaries in. He gave a rather lengthy answer but the answer seemed to be yes- said something about having a different squad this year.
It may well be but if big scores are required every time we'd better hope Short does come off and Bancroft is back ( or replaced quickly if he can't return)

He's been good on a flat track, but on anything that offers movement or spin, he turns to jelly

Oh dear! Although one day pitches at the Riverside are usually good. Famous last words.
The forecast rain hasn't come, looking a bit grey now but should be ok.

rain has arrived and it's that persistent drizzle type under very gloomy skies. I shall hold off heading down to the ground for a bit, I think

I hope we do get play.... next home game isn't until the 31st

Good idea. I'm here and there are no signs of a break in the clouds.
Just to confuse any newcomers the scoreboard is showing a total of 78 for 0 after 15 overs.
Even more bizarrely it's also showing that the last wicket fell with the score on 78!
Surely they could have cleared it! Or perhaps they can't because it's not working!
