My mate has wangled a hospitality ticket through his work - it starts at 4.30pm so God knows what state he'll be in by the end!

Martin Emmerson has the damning stats:
Clark is averaging 19.3 in 8 innings and that includes an unbeaten half century and a 30. Rest of his scores 1,6,0,1*,2,17
Burnham's last 5 innings-1,4,7,23,4. Average of 7.8
Poynter is averaging 12.7 from his last 7 innings. 4,1*,2,3,17*, 5,19*
Trevaskis is averaging 6.5 from 6 innings. 1*,4,1,6,7,7*

I know T20 is hit and miss making the openers consistency very impressive but the rest of them- apart from Handscomb and Lees-look like walking wickets.

in fairness to them though, Stainless Steel and her Ladyship are doing all the scoring, so the rest are either coming in swinging to try and grab what they can before the end of the innings, or they are coming in trying to stop the rot and looking to hang in there and try and salvage something.

I think Lees and Handscomb are both natural accumulators anyway, they don't seem to be big hitters in this format, and so it's the above who have to try and up the rate... take all the risks as it were.

Bangers would have been able to do both, accumulate or attack, but he's better employed somewhere else atm.... I forget where

we do need to find a big hitting finisher from somewhere ahead of the 2020 campaign. Who that might be I don't know

it would help if SS and DA didn't keep following each other through the exit door quite so quickly quite so often. It's as if they are completely comfortable batting together, but once one goes the other thinks he'll have to grab runs as fast as he can because the batsman at the other end can't be relied upon

I agree - those openers do seem to get out in fairly quick succession. If Poynter plays I wonder if it would be worth him coming up the order to play a few shots. Or to try and play a few shots.

With Ice cold in Alex Lees capable of making an impression.
I'd have Harte in, his gentle seam offers something we haven't got. Clark is woefully out of form, can't even get runs for the stiffs. Raine and Weighell are probably best options for the long handle.
We're on Sky on Tuesday incidentally.

Cameras often seem to bring out the worst in us! Agree about Harte, he got wickets and a century this week for the seconds.
