Views on tweaking the lbw law- if the ball is going to hit the stumps you're out! Sayonora DRS
Needs something to even things between bat and ball-especially in white ball cricket and in red ball cricket when bowlers can't shine ball.

Very interesting. Unprecedented times so those tweaks are acceptable I suppose. My own view would be to just get on with it - behind closed doors if necessary- but presumably the medical advice is behind all of the decisions.

Didn't know Bradman was involved in the debate!
I was assuming it was a temporary proposal in these times but seems a wider debate. Interesting views on both sides. I think I'd retain the current rules.

Bradman?
Just occurred to me though, now a switch hit is legal which side is leg which makes a mockery of pitching outside leg stump ruling.

Basically simplifying one to if the ball is going to hit the wicket you're out -regardless.
Probably link not working because article is behind a paywall.

sounds too simple. Who decides, just the umpire?

the TV bods won't like that, they like the techie stuff more than the cricket and they will have a thousand bits of kit to make the umpire look like a tw@t

I suppose the only thing that matters is what Sachin thinks

Story in The Times suggests it is extremely likely T20 county cricket will be played this season. They're preparing for two scenarios- one ( most likely at this stage ) with no crowds and games televised and the other is planning for games with spectators in attendance.

In The Times article it mentions rule changes or format changes having unintentional consequences. So DRS, brought in to try and make umpiring decisions more accurate, has resulted in more lbw decisions as umpires realised more balls were hitting the stumps than they previously judged likely. That has resulted in batsman having to change their techniques against spin bowling in particular.
Article is by Atherton...and he mentions panels of ex-cricketers being involved when rules are changed!

Younger members of the family do.
Here's how to proceed.
Ask any 7-40 year old how to zoom.
They'll inform you that it's simple then proceed to babble incoherently for 30 secs or so.
They then see the completely bamboozled look on your face and in a condescending voice ask you to hand them your device.
They then click on various keys on your device, hand it back without a glance but with a"there, simple" aside.
If there's an link with the word zoom clip on it and you're away.
There's a video recording of the meeting promised on the website for those of my technical ability.

I quite like the idea of a Lord's Final, the 2016 County Championship finale felt like a grand final. Though the match would have to be played with a pink ball under lights for the best chance of a result. The quality of daylight tends to be dodgy in September if it is not sunny skies.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
