And very worryingly for England, since tea there has been far less spin as the ball softens.

Thts rubbish from Broad. Established bat the other end, why are you slogging that.

Question should be why is foakes not trying to score any runs with broad at the other end

If anything could get worse for England, there is zero movement in the air for Bumrah this over. No real pace or bounce either. England have to wipe out India's top order with the new ball, or this could get very ugly

Not suggesting he is

But in this situation after the failure of everyone else he may as well have a go because the tail won't survive long

Well another straight one missed. Rubbish from Foakes.

One of the worst performances in living memory from England. I have seen lower scores on minefields or in tough situations, not on pitches like this.

As I posted a diagnosis of England's problems in the second test, they just havent learnt anything. The Indian bowlers stuck to a regimented length, a lot of balls pitched full; you have to get down the pitch and nullify it, especially when England now have gone three straight innings showing zero ability to pick both of these spinners variations.

In fact, you can see the lack of the plan in the differing ways the batsman play through their innings. Stokes lofted Ashwin over his head coming to the pitch, then went back to playing from the crease mostly on the front foot. Pope came down the pitch a couple of times, then stuck where he was and got caught on the crease. Crawley played back a few times but was mostly sitting on his heels and letting his hands move to the ball. Root wanted to sweep everything and again playing forward stuck on the crease. Bairstow the same.

When the ball turns, the only time you play forward is if your moving your feet, hanging the bat infront of the pad is for me bad approach. Its compounded when you are so committed and cant read the direction of turn, because you cant adjust.

Stokes was the mystery. He was playing back and late but just missed the ball.

Stokes looks like his head has gone

Like he's convinced himself he's not going to score any runs in these conditions

Has that carried? Stokes seems to be claiming it, I thought it did, but they are checking it. Not a good stroke from Gill

Hes put that down hasnt he? My god

Surprised we didnt get another angle. But I think on that Angle it looked like hes dropped it.

You know times are bad whn Stokes puts down chances, he's usually an impeccable fielder
