India 24/1 at close of play - not losing more wickets was key once Shubman was out. Anderson and Stokes will still have a pretty new ball tomorrow morning and then we are seeing the ball starting to spin - so India will need to work hard and bat well.

Eng have missed a big opportunity though - pitch was very flat for the first 2 sessions at least and they didn't capitalise - if they'd batted well today India would have been in big trouble

Agreed.

At least they made it to 200. England and India have fielded very differently shaped teams in the last 2 tests. I rather think that we'll know who got the balance more right in these two tests by close of play tomorrow

Morning session very much England's ...27 overs and they've taken 3/56 to leave this game very open at lunch. Really have bowled well : Stokes a marathon effort , Leach dangerous throughout , and Anderson ...well , just typical Anderson.

Rohit has played cautiously- sensibly given the good bowling on a pitch that , while perfectly playable , is affording some assistance to both spin and seam. Rahane was busy and I think England will be relieved to have seen him fall to Jimmy right on the stroke of lunch.

Understand Root rolling the dice, but it looks like Anderson and stokes have bowled a lot of overs this morning. If India can make a partnership this afternoon,.how many can the two get through after this?

I think he's playing at it, but its jagged back to beat him, and I think its kept a bit lower than youd expect too. Maybe an off cutter Id imagine. Came from nowhere too
