With 2022 looming large over us we must draw our attention to our selections for the forthcoming year. It is likely to be another T20 friendly one after 45% of all points were scored in the shortest from in 2021.
There are two variants of how this can go down (aren’t there always multiple variants after all). If we get a decent number of people we will retain our 2 cricketers per person allocation…..if we are thinner on the ground we can move it up to three.
With that in mind let’s run through our next steps.
Step 1
If you are a pre-existing player, you may only keep one of your 2021 players whilst the other needs to be reintroduced into the draft. Please can you declare which player you wish to retain and which you wish to release in the thread below. If you wish to release both players you can do that too. There is an option where you can release a player AND pick him in your draft i.e. I could choose to release Ashwin because I want to pick Mystery Cricketer 1 and Mystery Cricketer 2 first but he might be my third choice if I don’t get my two first choices (I think that makes sense)
If you did not play last year, please can you declare your interest to play in 2021 so I can put you in the draw.
Step 2 –
Before High Noon on the 27th of December, you must private message me your shortlist of six players you would like in order of preference. This will go forward into the silent auction that will take place on the 27th. I will conduct a random draw of Forum Members on the 27th and then use your lists to select your representatives for the forthcoming year. You can change your list as many times up until 12 noon on that Sunday and can select any player in the world as long as they are not retained by a current player. They will be allocated points for all forms of cricket they play in 2021 – including T10 tournaments and The Hundred. Like last year, I will be sending my list of six to the Independent Adjudicator - DFM.
Points remain the same with one exception. For the last three years I have neglected to use the 20 points run out rule so I am going to retrospectively binning it off.
Batting
1 point for every run scored
A batsman scoring 50 will receive a 20pt bonus, with another 10pts for every further 50 runs scored
(ie. 50 = 20pts, 100 = 30pts, 150 = 40pts, 200+= 50pts)
A batsman scoring at least 20 runs, will receive.....
10 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 80-99
20 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 100-149
30 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 150-199
40 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 200+
Bowling
20pts per wicket
20 bonus pts for a 3fer
30 bonus pts for a 5fer
A bowler who has bowled at least 3 overs will receive.....
10 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=6.0
20 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=5.0
30 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=4.0
(ie. an ER of 4.25 scores 20pts)
Fielding
10 points per catch or stumping
20 points per run out, or 10 points each, if two players share the responsibility
10 bonus points for 3 contributions with catches, stumpings or run outs.
If there are any queries, comments or concerns please press the button above and a representative will be with you shortly.
Happy picking.
