we also need a spinner

lets hope Drissell is the answer

It'll be interesting to see what Thomson is capable of when we play Derbys.

Notts off to a quick start despite an earlyish wicket.
Daily Mail reports Lees felt discomfort in his back netting yesterday morning. Nigel is no longer around so presumably he should be fit for the next game.

Yes, when they were bowling yesterday afternoon I thought the pitch looked lively- clearly though it was the bowlers who looked lively!
Not only are the wickets not coming but the runs are flowing. They'll cruise past 400 if this continues!

And another. If he can bowl unchanged for the rest of the day we might get them out!

and from both ends

Notts have a lead and 7 wickets in hand. Amazing what can be done if you don't all hand your wickets to the opposition on a plate

It's going predictably wrong. We must already be in the last chance saloon- unless the new ball dramatically changes this innings we are doomed!

Not often we only get 1 bowling point

Or it suddenly develops demons when Notts bowl on it,like it did in our 1st innings.
Not like me to be a cynic.

I think that's exactly what will happen- a lifeless pitch when our medium pacers bowl but the Notts attack will make it look like a minefield! Yesterday afternoon I thought the pitch was bowler friendly and our score might have been competitive but I was wrong!

There will be a chance to bat long in the second innings, so it's going to be up to us to do what Leics did last weekend. That was a 3 wicket day too, I think.... we seem to be good at those..... very consistent

We have the batting as long as they don't do what they did on day one. If nothing else it will be a test of resolve and application. What we need to do tomorrow is slow the scoring rate down as successfully as Leics last Saturday. Notts won't do what we did and faff about to make the 4th innings as easy as possible, so we have to make sure we survive the final session tomorrow unscathed.

Well we should be able to bat for a long time - but that was true im the first innings as well. I have a feeling though it could be painful to watch both before and after the declaration!
