Although one odd thing is Dickson got out playing a big shot as if he assumed a declaration was coming- he almost certainly would have made a second hundred otherwise.
If Carse doesn't plsy next week will they stick with Gibson given Sussex are struggling? Salisbury would be a safer bet but he's another one who looks innocuous if conditions are good for batting. If it's a choice between the two I'd probably stick with Gibson, msy as well give him the chance to get another game under his belt.

Not sure I would. I'd bring Salisbury in as a straight swap. Gibson goes for a few on top of only taking the one wicket. I think Salisbury can hold a bat too. I have a recollection of him making a decent score last year (or the year before). Gibson might be a prospect, but he probably needs a bit more work yet. What happened to Doneathy, did he not break into the side last year?

But he's just more of the same -RFM
I'd play Campbell-LFM with Badger and Trev giving 2 spin options.

Well, it should be a run fest at Hove.

If Campbell is available I think he'd be a good option.

Apparently they may well do! Although Sussex have loads of injuries at present.

at the beginning of the month almost all the feature writers for the cricketer predicted us to finish second in the table behind Notts

I wonder if they still think that

the dearth of wicket taking options is as worrying as it is unexpected.

Potts excepted, of course.... but then that was unexpected for me too.

Without the extra pace bowler I think we'll always struggle on decent pitches especially as we haven't got a threatening spinner.

Couple of interesting articles.
Trevaskis,in the Cricketer, says he's benefited from coaching from Jeetan Patel during close season.
Potts,on club website, says he's benefited from picking brains when at PSL.
He and a full fit Carse could be a lively combination.
Heard reports also the Cambell looking particularly sharp in UCCE matches.

Yes, if everyone is available for selection it's a much more potent attack. Didn't know about Trevaskis working with Patel-pretty good mentor!
I was surprised we didn't bring in a couple of players - signs last season were encouraging but not a great deal of depth to cover for the inevitable injuries, international and 100 callups.
It has been a modest start but imagine how much worse it would have been if Dickson hadn't started so well - don't think even he would have thought it likely.

Assuming Lees is back in contention... who drops out and where does Capt Beaky bat?

I still maintain that Bedders is too low at 5

Jones hurt his ankle fielding - although still opened the batting so it's probably not serious. If it is then it should be a straight swap.
If Jones is fit I guess it will have to be Trevaskis ( or Drissell if LT is still concussed!) Far from ideal though with the attack one dimensional enough as it is. Carse is bowling in the second team so I imagine he won't play at Hove and don't think Stokes is due back until sometime next month.

Agree about Bedingham, I'd have him at 4 and move Borthwick to 5.
