Yes, Potts the only impressive bowler so far. And who would have thought we'd be relying on Dickson to shore up the top order! Eckersley is having a poor start - either it's just a poor run of form or he's batting a place too high - or it's the old familiar story of a middle order batsman getting exposed to the new ball thanks to.top order collapses.

I suppose traditionally we've had a bowling attack that could rescue games after the trademark collapses but the bowling has been less potent for a while now - games where the batting fires but end up as draws so when the batting fails now we are snookered.
A few failures for Bedingham don't concern me, Petersen has started poorly but it'll be a surprise if he doesn't play some meaningful innings before he departs. Borthwick though is a worry - it's not just his struggles so far this year, was underwhelming last season and didn't have a great time at Surrey.

it would be very typical of our bowling attack if the night watchman batted all morning for fifty

the only innings of note that I can remember was the first innings hundred at Chelmsford last year on a minefield, but we still lost the match after being bowled out in the final session of the match
