Capt Colly might remember, but I have a feeling it was Northants where we were something daft like 79-1 chasing 117 or something to win and we collapsed in a heap and ended up being all out a load of runs short

At least we didn't fall in a heap tonight and end up being crucified on the NRR, but tbh, for a while we looked good for something remarkable, for a long while we were still in it, and then we self destructed... which we often do, and until we stop doing it we will never lift this trophy

A good opening partnership ended with a poor shot choice that went up in the air, but that happens. Turner and Clark were completely dominant until Turner injured himself needlessly and for little return when in full flow. Bedders kept the momentum going even after the fall of Clark (who still looks like our best T20 bat by a mile) and then for no apparent reason, having found gaps and hit the ball into the stands with conventional crick shots suddenly decided to tamely lob the ball to backward point with a wholly unnecessary reverse sweep when in full flow, sparking a clatter of wickets as a succession of batters came out to try and flog the ball with no time to get their eye in. Ending up with the reverse helicopter piece of numbskullery to end the innings early when Northants were quite happy to give a single to every ball, thereby helping us reduce the NRR arrears as much as possible

Special mention goes to Ben Raine for bowling 2 over head height slow ball bouncers and after being warned that another one would result in him being taken out of the attack upon which he imediately bowled another one. We ended up having to bowl Scott 0-59 for 4 overs instead of 2.... probably costing us 15 or 20 runs.... take a bow!

Northants spinners took 6 for 63 off their overs

Ours took 3 for 123 off theirs

Carse bowled as well as anybody tonight.... probably the best seamer on display by some margin so that's encouraging. In a small ground he often gets tanked, but he didn't tonight

Been out tonight so didn't follow the game, lots of runs so the injury to Turner might have been the difference? Dislocated shoulder according to Emmerson- he said the medics popped it back in! Wonder if that means he'll be OK in a day or so or if he'll be missing for a while.

Clark,in interview, said Turner wanted to bat but common sense prevailed, nice to learn that there's someone on the backroom staff with a brain. We made a decent fight of it but again you have to question tactics. You can work bowlers and still get 10 an over- you don't have to try to bray every ball out of the ground.
That young left arm spinner looked class,Trev and Badger look at him and learn, and Parkinson at Lancs also. You'll learn nowt from our coaching staff that's for sure.
