Only one innings I know but is it worth considering him for next year if we go for a batsman ( whether we should is another matter) He'd probably be available for the majority - if not all - of the season. I'd imagine NZ A tours will include him but hard to get into their test team atm.

If the Maddinson deal hasn't been finalised I'd sign Ravindra for the end of season.
Bedingham has a broken finger apparently which may explain his disastrous loss of form. Nothing pleases me more than signs of an academy product coming through ,more so when it' a batter.
This, and with the signing of Sowter,it's been an excellent few days.

Yes, I thought Ravindra looked like a top quality player. Left before the close but Bushnell looked classy too.
Last few times I've seen Bedingham he looked uncomfortable so a broken finger would explain it. Hopefully we can make a really big score because it looks like a good batting wicket and our attack has been toothless with the exception of the now absent Potts.

I didn't want to jinx the lad earlier, but despite looking nervous at first and having a dart at a couple he probably shouldn't have, Bushnell settled down really quickly and played some very fine shots. I know it's early days and this seems to be a good batting track, but he looked very organised and very capable from the half hour or so that I saw of him. To get 67* on debut is a very good start regardless of what he's playing on

It took Capt Beaky about half an hour to trudge off when dismissed. Had his hands and his bat over his head the whole way back. I don't know what he was thinking really, because he had been playing very nicely up to the point where Barnard got him hopping about. After that he got a bit bogged down and he nudged and nurdled and mistimed his way from 71 to 96, so why he thought he could get to his ton with a glory shot is beyond me. He hadn't hit a clean shot for an hour, the field was very defensive and there were singles everywhere, so to have a big old swipe was a bit silly really. Hey ho... he's still had a productive day.

Yes, a poor shot. Think that was the one disappointing thing about today. He has started getting scores on the CC - must have been some doubts creeping in after a poor season last year and poor start to this campaign but he has done pretty well recently...apart from the T20 bowling!

Looked this morning as if we might not make 500 but for once we're the team putting on 100 for the 8th wicket. These two are ( or can be! ) very useful with the bat but I wondwr if the partnership is another indication that taking 20 wickets will be real challenge.

We seem to be playing the 'let them get to a century' game again. I'm not sure I approve, because it feels a bit indulgent, but the scoring rate is fast enough to make arguing against it difficult. It's 45 mins from tea on day 2, so it leaves lots of time to try and take 20 wickets. Bowling Rushy into the ground isn't so much of a factor either because he gets the rest of the month off after this anyway

If we struggle to take wickets, which seems likely, then if we were to take 10 wickets we should probably just bat out the rest of the game, rather than risk injury to other key bowlers that we might need over the rest of this month

perhaps we should have played the leggie in hindsight. He was available for this game if we'd wanted him, seemingly

Yep. Both got to the hundreds in the same over and the declaration came.
Let's see if scoreboard pressure works for us - it hasn't in most previous games but 640 is in a different league.

tea according to the beeb

that can't be right. 59 overs have been bowled today and tea comes after 64. Two for the change over, so we should be having 3 overs before tea. These stop starts could be important.
