Is there any rules concerning tests and cancellations of matches anymore? Or will they just get on with it even if half of each team goes down.

Don't think there is a strict rule in place now : but I guess if the worst happened and a touring team couldn't field XI (surely unlikely !) the match would have to be called off - bit like India Test last year. Home team always has alternates .

Have been cases in the past - well before Covid - when touring teams like England in some overseas locations struggled to put a full team on the field due to minor illnesses spreading through the squad. Support staff sub fielding etc...But not of course on the scale that might possibly arise here.

Let us not get too excited unless/until there is evidence of widespread infection. Really hope not as we want to see another good contest !

J.Overton to play tomorrow.

Anderson is out. Presume that will be the only change.

KW is back for NZ.

as well as being in good form, he's quicker than the other bowlers and has the potential to significantly shorten the England tail. I hope he does well. It feels as though he's been around for an age without ever getting a proper run at anything. Smart move leaving Somerset for Surrey.

Nice start for Broad. Not so much for Latham.

That's a long NZ batting line up. Only three bowlers and a part timer though.

Broad sure does love bowling to left-handed openers. Latham is fast becoming a Warner-like bunny for him.

Wicket looks pretty dry, and the sun's out. Could be another big scoring game (at least for NZ).

Yes looks a good toss to win. A pretty true pitch ; ball isn't hooping around. England will have to work for their wickets today , I think.

Overton working up his pace in his second over. Hope he is good for a solid stint.

Leach on early...and strikes immediately ! Great bowing change...

Broad has bowled very nicely this morning. England's session on a decent looking batting deck.

Lot of NZ batting to come though.

I see being penalised last game has done nothing to give England the hurry-up on the rate. 3 overs shy by lunch despite several overs of spin.

Very good morning's work from England's bowlers. Broad excellent , Potts Mr Economy and Leach with an important wicket. Overton didn't threaten 90 mph but was a decent first few overs.

Long way to go. Long Kiwi batting line-up and a good day for batting.
