India dominating day 1 against Australia....Australia bowled out for 219 and India 41-0 after 6 overs in reply

India getting quite a grip on this after two days. Had a bit of a middle order collapse (lost 4/14 from 260/3) but a big eighth wicket stand by key bowlers Deepti Sharma and Vastrakar has them nearly out of sight on 376/7. Gardner (a deserved 4/100) the only Australian bowler to really shine and even she ended up rather worn down after bowling 36 overs in the day. Pitch making batting against spin tricky already so Aussies face a huge task to get out of this.

As well as home conditions, India have had a bit of recent practice, of course. When was the last time that Australia played a test match? Have they played a test since the ashes?

Aussies battling hard to stave off defeat here , 251/6 on the last morning. Only 64 ahead ; but Sutherland playing calmly and hoping to get enough support from the bowlers to set a target.
India still massive favourites ; but if they are held up too long I wonder if the pressure of being so near a win might get to them a bit ?

Think Australia would need to add something like another hundred so a lot on Sutherland's shoulders.

One minute after I posted that last , Sutherland gloved behind and departed after a review ! Australia now effectively 64/7...

...make that 64/8 as King is bowled first ball. Think this basically over now...

Indeed. They've moved up the pecking order dramatically lately. This win maybe not quite as easy as the earlier dismantling of England ; but arguably even more meritorious because they lost the toss and yet comfortably beat an Australian side who had the considerable advantage of batting first on a pitch that got steadily trickier over the four days.

Will be interesting to see how the white ball games go now.

International summer starts Saturday with England taking on Pakistan in t20's, Sophia Dunkley has been dropped along with Tammy Beaumont, be intresting to see if Issy Wong can re-capture her form from 2 summers ago

England wrapped up a 3-0 series win over Pakistan, who looked okay with the ball and in the field but their batters are hopeless for t20, they can't hit the ball off the square! Nat Sciver Brunt's fitness remains a worry, always looks like shes carrying an injury and is bowling less and less these days....the ODI's start later this week i believe

England name their first squad since the Ashes fall out

some notable recalls for the visit of the WIndies. Can't argue with Emma Lamb, she's been the player of the season thus far in Tier 1

no place for Ecclestone, ostensibly to manage an injury, but she turned out for Lancs the other day, so there may be an element of a gentle warning in there too

There has been a lot of talk both during and after the ashes about Issy Wong and the way England mistreated her ability. I've heard her described as having genuine pace, but before this season I had no idea what 'genuine pace' looked like in women's cricket, so I was interested to see her bowl at the Riverside last weekend. If I'm honest, now that I've had a chance to compare her with other 'quicks' in the 3 games I've attended, she didn't look particularly fast to me..... she certainly can't field despite having a bullet throw. Batted well though. She may be rebuilding her fitness for all I know, of course, but she has been included in the England squad, so I'm wondering whether this is also about bringing her back into the fold after all the criticism of previous regimes

Eccelstone now has a quad problem too so injuries starting to get her.....they didn't miss her though Linsey Smith was exceptional in the first two odis including a 5-fer in the first one.....no Sarah Glenn in the side either....with the bat the class of tammy Beaumont always shines through she scores for fun.... incredible that Amy Jones didn't have an odi hundred she goes to the top of the order and gets two in two games!!! The side looked a lot more balanced yesterday...Davidson Richards got tap but that was always going to happen given the size of the run chase required....not even missing sciver brunt with the ball......the problem always is though we dominate at home in bilateral series but when pressure on in major tournaments they buckle...so as much as it's good signs we don't know how good they are until next major tournament
