I got there just as Dobson fell. Armitage scratted around looking frazzled and could have been run out twice in a few balls setting off for hopeless runs, but being saved by misfields. Once she departed I thought we built the innings very well, so the last 2 overs were a disappointment, because I felt that 175 was very much on.

the final over from Arlott was a masterclass. Every ball in the over was a loopy full toss aimed (successfully) to land just inside the wide line and we simply couldn't get bat on ball

Apart from the great catch and a couple of close run out attempts this fielding is not good.

I only stayed for the first innings.

We lost that in the last 2 overs of our innings, I think. we had been going along at 12 an over in the overs prior to the last 2. An extra 12 or 13 runs might have made the difference.

And now the men need a strong finish to their innings.140 on the board with 3 and a bit overs left- pity Robinson got out when he did.
Presumably Gay and McKinney will be available for the next game so could be some interesting selection decisions. Before the first game Campbell mentioned McKinney as a key player.

168. And just one six in the innings, I didn't stay so don't know if that's a competitive score or not. If there are boundaries galore in the first 6 overs we'll know that it probably isn't!

I have to question why Rhodes comes in so late in the innings. No BR ahead of him today, but Aldridge this time

If he's batting after bowlers and not bowling, why is he there? Can we still afford luxury players in the side, in a similar way to the days when we used to include Borthwick, not bowl him, but bat him at 10. Just one of the many examples of muddled thinking that has plagued us for most of the last 20 years

I agree. It's not his fault but if Rhodes is playing he surely should be up the order or we might as well play the extra bowler.
