At least England got something out of it.

Maybe this innings will be about how many India want, given they probably won't be bowled out. They gain nothing from a draw and there may be rain. So when do they declare?

Next session England may be thinking about resting the pace attack for the new ball after tea. So surely we'll see the part-timers. And an uptick in the RR.

I dont think the pitch is that good for declarations to come into the frame. Assuming it is, India will want 500 and to be bowling late tomorrow morning session, but thats a long, long way off.

If I am India, I just want to see an hour pass here just to defend. 50 overs sent down, this is the stage those England pacer bowlers legs will be feeling heavy.

Atkinson again... Nair never looked comfortable after the whack on the hand first ball, and he is put out his misery finally.

1-2 before tea, and this swings back England's way, but Atkinson must be near empty, Tongue has bowled 20 already.... at some stage Pope needs to be looking towards the new ball and will have to get the spinners on

6 and a missed run out. England shooting themselves in the foot.

Not sure what is in Overton's head this innings. The captain has set up the leg side trap, he has a leg slip, a shortish short leg, a short midwicket, and absolutely nothing on the offside from extra cover to first slip, and the dingbat is bowling wide and short outside off stump. When Jadeja then smacks him into the canyon sized gap with zero effort, he then starts angrily gesturing at Pope as to why he has no third man....

The field is setup to bowl wide into the stumps you giant prat. Why are you banging it miles outside off stump?? Tongue is the other way, hes bowled 90 percent of his balls outside leg stump...

England have some serious questions to answer before they rock up to Brisbane.

Jaiswal will be sick with himself getting out to that. Tries that uppercut again, but Overton is back for the shot and FINALLY catches one. Stupid batting, the part time spin was just coming on the other end, England have retreated the field back.... the game firmly in India's hands and time to put it to bed with the seam attack knackered. Threw it away.

England badly needed that.

India now 6 down, but really only 5 with the nightwatchman. Two batters to come, lead of 250.

I reckon 250 itself is defendable on this wicket, but minimum of 300 from here will be a challenge for England. 350 puts it to bed.

Highest chase is 260. Not many chases over 200 in Oval history... in fact, hardly any.

England also already effectively 0-1 when they come out too.

My vibe is 250 is enough.

Imagine if the remaining three man attack was Swann, Broad and Anderson and half a dozen catches went down off them. They'd have the fielders doing punishment pressups in the dressing room. Under the supervision of Andy Flower.

This looks miles outside the line.... how has the umpire given that?

Yes, and Hawkeye confirms. It wasnt even close...
