English football 2025-26

The beautiful game!

The corruption in the PL is hilarious at times. The BBC live feed says 5 minutes max injury time, the Canal plus live comms said 4-5 minutes because there were no VAR checks and injuries....

But Liverpool aren't winning, so we get 13. Just to put that in context I went to the St Trond v Union game a few weeks ago and we got 12 after one player broke their hip and had to have an ambulance crew stetcher him off with great care, and 4 VAR checks in the 2nd half.

Play until Liverpool win

Yeah, brilliant. Made Gabriel look like an amateur....

And then Donnarumma made himself look the same.

Not sure I'd go that far. Even if they win the game in hand (which is v Palace), which is not guaranteed, it would be points level. Arsenal have a better goal difference and an easier run in with 3 home games and the highest side left to face being 12th placed Fulham.

Arsenal still favourites on paper IMO. But they are not known for holding their nerve...

City will be top on Wednesday if they beat Burnley by two goals or more plus Arsenal have two tough games against Atletico coming up. City do have the tougher run in though and I'm sure they'll be another twist. City are now favourites but for me it's 50/50.

They go top with any win vs Burnley, as a win of any kind at the very least makes them level on GD with the next tie breaker goals scored in City's favour.

There are currently only 2 goals in it. In the event of level points and level goal difference/goals scored, City win the league based on results vs Arsenal (1 Home win/1 away draw).

Ok fair enough, though I get the feeling City will see this as a chance to increase this advantage by a few goals!

City have a harder run in, but I get the impression a few of Arsenal's team are gassed out. They have had the most injuries bar Spurs in 2026, and a few have been rushed back, others have had to keep playing to make up for injuries in the squad. Just don't have the same energy and work rate about them at the moment.

Still, the law of averages tells you that City are due losing a game. Assuming Arsenal don't drop points now, to win City will have to have played a 17 match run with 14 wins and 3 draws, and 7 consecutive wins. My head tells me they surely can't do this under immense pressure?

But then again, with two games vs Madrid, I don't think Arsenal will win out either
