A hugely entertaining game. France were terrible in the first half, but turned it around in the second. They came back out and played like Senegal had done. Senegal came back out and played like France had done. Crikey, we nearly had 3 goals in stoppage time

I've just watched the Portugal game. They were really poor, I'm delighted to say. DRC defended really well. Portugal were getting really frustrated and some of their challenges were really naughty, while at the same time the slightest of touches saw them go down like they'd been shot. Reverted to type... they couldn't help themselves. One player felt a tug behind, high up on the shirt, and rolled around for ages clutching his neck like he'd been karate chopped on the adams apple, and bought DRC a yellow card, then late in the game a Portugal defender had his arm around Wissa's throat, deliberately so, and hauled him backwards to prevent him getting a run on goal.

Great header from Wissa btw. I couldn't believe how high he jumped up off the ground. He had bags and bags of energy and ran his socks off for the cause. Pity he didn't do that sort of thing for Newcastle

Depends on your definition of entertainment I guess, but that was pretty entertaining I thought.

second half was

that 15 mins after the break was as good as anything I think I've seen from England. I lost count of the number of desperate saves that their keeper made and Croatia were all over the place, just about hanging on and hoping that England's intensity would drop. Croatia were blown away in that spell and there was nothing they could do about it.

Defensively England looked a little ropey.... a bit passive. Pickford looked as though he was going to have one of those court jester nights, but fortunately didn't. I think he was on the edge of it though. The long range strike for Croatia's first equaliser was fair enough, England won't concede many from out there, but the second was just shambolic defending, so England will need to cut that out. Lots of work to do there in training.

Going forward, England looked good and after players were rotated, they still looked good. Cut out that second goal from Croatia, score another couple in that 15 minute spell and I think 6-1 would have been a better reflection of that game. A really good start to proceedings, particularly in that second half
